The whitelist has been removed!

[hr]
The Vanilla server has been updated with the latest version of CraftBukkit. I've also installed several mods to help protect the server and players. The gameplay will still be pure Vanilla except for the following:

Players can now use Lockette (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCB0cpxR62A&feature=player_embedded)
Players can use /motd
Players can use /msg for private messages
Players can use /rules
Players can use /afk

The server now uses AntiCheat, LogBlock and Statistician to keep track of what everybody is doing. With this the mods and admins can detect cheaters, catch chest thiefs and undo grief. The Vanilla server has no jail. This means that if anyone breaks the rules he or she will get banned permanently from all of our servers. So please don't break the rules!

The Vanilla server now uses DynMap as well. It uses the Hi-res maps which are awesome to see. They are also huge and take a really long time to render. The server has been rendering the world map for about 14 hours and probably has about 10 more to go. When that's done it still needs to render the Nether and the End... I estimate it will consume about 15GB of disk space when it's done.
You can view DynMap here: http://vanilla.happydiggers.net

I have no idea where your chests are located. But here's what you can do. Go to http://vanilla.happydiggers.net and locate your chests. Then click the 'Link' button in the lower left corner of the screen. This will change the URL in your address bar. Copy/paste it here and I'll lock your chests.

Example URL: http://vanilla.happydiggers.net/?worldname=world&mapname=surface&zoom=8&x=97.9174965993401&y=64&z=175.7876308775086

I put signs on your chests.... I think ;)
What you still need to do is replace all of your tracks. Just remove them and put them back. That way they will be protected against theft.

Anyway....
The Vanilla server is now running without a whitelist. Everyone can join!

Due to some lag issues people were having, and due to massive grief, the server is whitelisted once again.

I've disabled some of the mods that prevent the use of X-ray mods which fixed most of the lag issues. Unfortunately we don't feel like cleaning up every time some random griefer has had their way with the server, so the whitelist is back. We can undo the damage and roll back chest theft. But we don't want to keep on doing that for idiots that join, get cause trouble, get banned and we will never see again.

We recognize that a number of people wish to play on the Vanilla server that haven't caused any problems in the past. They will be allowed to join. Just give us some time to sort things out first.

I've been flying around looking for small grief. found some stuff and fixed it. mostly creeper explosions, and fire so hard to find out who.

I've rolled back all the blocks ever changed by the new griefers. At least the griefers I could find last night.

I'm also looking into a replacement for logblock that should be able to tell who started a fire or a lava/water stream.

Most of land has been fixed, removed a few old houses that i think they got griefed in past and now they were abandoned , gave spawn a nice aspect for those who are new to the server or never been to spawn properly.

More things do to are WorldEdit matter like land smoothing, forest remaking and maybe a few thing of visual content.

Good job! :D

I've replaced logblock with CoreProtect (http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/coreprotect/). It basically does the same thing but has a few nice features logblock lacks. Also it should be faster and lag free.

All players can use the /co inspect command to look for block changes. When you enable /co inspect and place a block inside a lava or water stream, it shows you who placed the first block that caused that stream.

The same thing goes for planting trees. All the blocks of a full grown tree shows the person who planted that tree.

Give it a go :)

Lol....Great j you gave the secret to /lb and /co xD

The more people know how to spot grief the better. And besides, only admins can rollback with logblock and coreprotect.

This afternoon I've changed the Java JDK the server uses from IcedTea JDK 6.1.11.3 to Oracle JDK 1.7.0.3. Generally Oracle's (Sun) JDK is faster then it's open source counter parts like IcedTea. But because Oracle's JDK's license isn't GNU(Linux) compatible it's not default on Linux systems.

It's actually quite a hassle to get it up and running. On Windows you just go to java.com download/install and you're done. On Linux you have to follow a crazy how-to (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/java.xml) if you're a noob like me ;)

Anyway, the Vanilla server is now running a bit more smoothly. Dynmap tile generation now takes half the time it did before. Also chunk loading is noticeably faster for me. I've been testing the server via a regular ADSL connection with a nominal ping time of around 20ms to the server. For me it was running smooth as butter. I hope it makes a difference for others as well :)

The Vanilla server has been updated to 1.3.1.

Craftbukkit has not yet been updated, so that means that the Vanilla server is now running plain vanilla: no mods, no Dynmap, just Minecraft.

Also I've added Dothecreeper to the whitelist.

The Vanilla server has been updated to the latest recommended built of Craftbukkit.

Important things for you guys to know: Dynmap and Lockette are working again!

CoreProtect has been reconfigured to use MySQL instead of the default flatfile storage. This should be faster when doing large rollbacks. Downside is that there is currently no way to import the data from the flatfile into MySQL. That means that previously logged data is lost and we're starting over with logging stuff.

Updated Anticheat, Dynmap and Lockette to the latest versions.

Noobminer, I hope this fixes the lag-kick issues you've been having :)
