Long story short: it's bad.
Update Flash and use a browser that automatically blocks unsafe plugins. Firefox does this for example: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/p946 It will keep track of all the plugins you have installed and if there are any known problems with them. It will also periodically notify you about updates for your plugins. Don't ignore those notifications but update your plugins.
It's a pain to keep everything updated. Especially since every plugin likes to use it's own update mechanism. But in the current day an age, this has become something we are just going to have to live with.
