    This is weird...

    Hey guys.

So earlier today, I was playing some FTB. I was preparing materials needed to make a fair few advanced solar panels and a few other things. I was just about done when I was disconnected by a 'Java.socket.connectreset.' or something along those lines. I couldn't reconnect to the server a while after that.

When I decided to check if I could, which was a few hours after the disconnection, I was able to, and I was where I logged out a few days ago. My inventory was the same was it was back then too, meaning everything I had on me was deleted. My chests, barrels, area and machinery(and their inventories) I used were not affected. ( However, a small amount of items have been duped because of I had put the things I had on me at the 'few days before' log out point in a chest).

I've been looking around and backtracking where I've been and I've found none of my stuff. I don't know what has really caused this but I'm guessing it wasn't supposed to happen. :S

The server logs show the following happening:
    Code:

So I'm guessing you lagged out quite badly last night causing your player.dat file not to be saved. I've made a script that saves the server every 15 minutes, so that's why the blocks you've interacted with did get saved.

It really sucks to loose a lot of stuff. I don't know how much you had on you. But maybe you'll find some compensation on the top of your vulcano.... as in 11 million EU worth of compensation

Went to process the ores I got from my quarry. Had 4 mining backpacks full of 'em. I was disconnected, and logged back on. Inventory didn't change, and I was where I was before I Dc'ed. Checked my backpacks. Nothing. Empty. 1 still had stuff in it, fortunately. Again, I've looked everywhere. No sign of any of the stuff I've lost. :S

Don't mean to be a pain in the neck but, yeah. If it's my internet that's causing the majority of these problems then I'll see what I can do about that.

Again... Sorry for being a pain.

You're not being a pain at all so please don't apologize

I'm seeing quite a few disconnects in the log file but I'm unsure if that's the cause of this problem. It could be, but it could also be unrelated. I just don't know.

There are quite a bit of what look like small errors in the logfiles, but they seem unrelated to you. Here's an example:
    Code:
    2013-03-03 05:29:04 [INFO] [Minecraft] Pernix_8D lost connection: disconnect.quitting
    2013-03-03 05:29:04 [INFO] [STDOUT] Unloading Player: Pernix_8D

It happens almost 3 hours after you've left the server. But in between there's nothing going on so who knows :B

The disconnects I'm seeing in the log file are mostly due to time-outs which is something I can't do anything about. Basically that's lag between your client and the server due to the large distance (the entire planet!) between them. So I'm afraid that right now I can't give more useful advice than to check basic stuff like:

    • Are you using a fixed connection, not wifi?
    • Are your chipset and network drivers up to date?
    • Are you running the latest version of Java?
    • Did you try to force an update of FTB from the launcher?
    • Are you seeing any errors in the Windows Event logs?
